Phantomwise
“Traditional acting dialogue was coupled with interpretive dance, creating an impactful and intriguing delivery. The fast-paced storyline and in the visual elements and actions that took place on stage made it hard to look away or lose interest.”
Whimsically structured and beautifully written, this play by Oren Stevens, graduate of the Yale School of Drama playwriting program, and was first performed at the New York City Fringe Festival in 2012. The play chronicles the life of Alice Liddell (Alice in Wonderland) and her relationship with her family friend Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) from childhood, to adulthood, to seniorhood. The world of the play continually shifts from 19th century England to fantastical wonderland and back again, giving each actor the opportunity to play multiple different characters.
In the show, I was really able to work on physicality and characterization by playing a total of 7 different characters including the White Rabbit, Humpty Dumpty and Reginald, Alice’s husband. This show was directed by Ellen Brooker and produced by 5th Company Lane Productions.
