Concord Floral
This postmodern play was written by Jordan Tannahill in 2015, and tells the story of a “ghost” or spirit haunting a group of high school students in the suburban community of Vaughn. Concord Floral is the name of the abandoned greenhouse in which the teenagers would pass their time drinking, doing drugs, partying and hooking up with one another. It is also the location in which the “death” that prompted the haunting occurs. This show’s storytelling is particularly unique in that 2 show worlds exist: one in which the students collectively narrate what happens in the story after the fact, and one in which the students play themselves as characters experiencing events as they unfold.
In this show I played John Cabot, a shy, observant birdwatcher that was not directly involved in the killing, but feels a deep sense of empathy for the victim of this senseless and remorseless crime. This show was directed by acclaimed Canadian actor and Queen’s professor Greg Wanless, and was produced by the Queen’s University Drama Department in partnership with Theatre Kingston, Kingston’s professional theatre company.
